Lyric is a unique extended-wear hearing aid manufactured by Phonak that is completely invisible to the naked eye. It is situated deep within the ear canal by a Hearing Instrument Specialist who has been specially trained to handle and fit clients with this device. Lyric can be worn continuously every day of the week for up to four months. Besides being fully hidden from view, its other major advantage lies in the fact that it never needs to be recharged or have batteries replaced. It remains lodged in the recesses of the ear canal for the entirety of its four-month lifespan and only needs to be removed if absolutely necessary. Furthermore, adjustments and device replacements take no more than ten minutes to complete.

How Lyric Works

The inner mechanics and electronic components of the Lyric core are secured inside the ear canal by several rings of soft, biocompatible foam that form a tight seal. Despite fully blocking the auditory cavity, its design still allows air to adequately circulate while ensuring that it remains docked firmly within. Unlike most other types of hearing aids that receive and process sound from outside of the ear, Lyric allows sound waves to travel down the length of the ear canal and lets the natural anatomy of the ear influence the ultimate characteristics of the sound waves. Its microphone and receiver components merely serve to amplify these sound signals in the end. The overall effect is the most realistic and original sound enhancement of any hearing device available.
